Review
Aquitaine is a boisterous bistro serving French faire in the South End.
The ambiance has a nice Parisian bistro feel with a classy touch.
However, the tables are a little too close together so at times you feel
right on top of your fellow diners. The Chestnut Hill location
serves up the same great cuisine in an equally authentic French bistro
setting. The menu serves up a nice mix
of meat, chicken, fish, and vegetable courses. We started with the Frisee Salad and the Seared Rare Tuna Nicoise.
On our first visit, the salad was good,
but the tuna was remarkable. Vice versa on our visit to the
Chestnut Hill location. For our main
entrees, we both couldn't resist the Filet Au Pouvre with Frites.
The seasoning and sauces were delightful, but both were just a touch
overcooked in places. We ended with the Chocolate Pudding Cake and
the Grape Nut Custard for dessert, on our server's recommendation.
Both were top notch. The Creme Brule and Tarte Tartin are also
phenomenal. Service was pleasantly friendly and
intelligent, and the price wasn't over the top. We were seated
right away, but the dining room filled up quickly around 7:00 pm.
Overall, we're sure to head back again when we're in the neighborhood -Mike
