Review
A great gem of a restaurant tucked away in the Newtonville section of
Newton serving up a creative selection of Mediterranean dishes. Ariadne undoubtedly
has one of the most attractive dining rooms we have ever visited.
Upscale and stylish, the restaurant is decorated in earth tones, lush
seating, and billowing draperies. The menu has a wide range of
options, each somewhat creative and tasty. We started with the
Mussel & Clam Plate with Almond Butter and the
Mediterranean Plate.
Both were divine, we would return for the appetizers alone. For
our entrees, Kim opted for the Grilled Sirloin, while I chose the
Grilled Lamb Rack. Both were flavored excellently, but a bit fatty
for our liking. We both probably would try something different
next time (and there will be a next time). We ended our meals with
two delectable desserts ... the Chocolate Tart and the Apple Crostada.
We'd highly recommend both, as they just finished our meals off
perfectly. The wine list is also up to par - we tried the
Sangiovese by the glass and were quite pleased. The service was first
rate - the wait staff was polite and our meal was served at a perfect pace. The
prices are expensive for outside Boston, but worth the value as this is
one of the top eateries in Newton. Parking was ample and Ariadne
is easy to get to, just a few blocks up from Newton Corner at Exit 17
off of the Pike. We were lucky enough to get reservations the same
day, but on most occasions you'd be best served to call a few days in
advance. -Mike & Kim |
