Review
The Met Club is a sophisticated steakhouse located on Route 9 in Chestnut Hill.  Entering the restaurant, diners are greeted by a sleek modern foyer giving way to an upscale lounge and a boisterous dining room.  In the tradition of classic American steakhouses, the Met Club menu serves up a good selection of steaks, poultry, seafood, as well as some intriguing pasta dishes.  We began our meals with an Arugala & Goat Cheese Salad and the Scallops & Bacon appetizer.  The salad was very good, with a generous helping of pistachio-encrusted goat cheese. The scallops were out-of-this world - scallops & bacon is one of my favorite appetizers and this was truly the best I have ever had.  After enjoying our appetizers, we moved on to the Beef Tenderloin and the Prime Sirloin.  Both were prepared perfectly to our individual likings, and accompanied by a delightful béarnaise sauce. The Tenderloin comes either "naked" or Au Poivre; if you like Au Poivre, you don't want to miss this one.  Additionally, our side of Hand-cut Idaho Fries were sprinkled with a tasty seasoning and served with a parmesan truffle dip.  The wine list, while extensive, lacked some of our personal favorites and also absent were many moderately priced options.  For dessert, we selected the Molten Caramel-Filled Chocolate Cake and the County Fruit Tart, both of which had to be ordered prior to our meal.  We were extraordinarily impressed, as both desserts were the best we've had in months.  In terms of service, our waitress was eager-to-please, and made a few good recommendations that we appreciated.  Pricing was very expensive, especially for outside the city, but keep in mind that the Met Club rivals Boston's best steakhouses.  Overall, we highly recommend, especially for a place for visiting Boston College parents to bring their kids out for a hearty meal.  -Mike & Kim

February 2007 update: During our second visit, we were equally impressed and take back our negative comment about the wine list - we were able to find some great moderately priced options our second time around.  On top of that, service was outstanding and everyone in our party of five left more than pleased.
