Review
Flagship
restaurant of star Boston chef Todd English. Once considered the finest
eatery in the area, reviews of Olives have been mixed in recent years. However, if
our most recent visit is any indication, Olives is still in
the top tier of the local scene. The setting is bistro-style, and the
noise level tends to get very loud, creating a very jovial atmosphere.
Lines form out the door, and reservations can be hard to come by on
weekends. If you are lucky enough to be seated in the front, you’ll be
treated to a fantastic view of the Boston skyline. The menu is
inventive, treating customers with English’s signature Mediterranean
dishes. We shared a chicken entrée and the Filet Mignon, both were
prepared to perfection. I also enjoyed the Seared Sea Scallops as
an appetizer
and a scrumptious Crème Brulee for dessert. The service was very good,
but it was definitely not first rate, as the restaurant was just too
jam-packed to allow us to receive any individual attention. Valet parking is
probably your best bet, as parking in Charlestown is not a walk in the
park. -Mike &
