Review
Sorellina is a newcomer to the Boston dining scene, and has already won
numerous awards, even on the national level, for its Italian and
Mediterranean cuisine. Sorellina's dining room is stylish and
trendy, akin to its sister restaurant, Mistral. The menu offers
Chef Jamie Mammano's creative and modern take on Italian fare. The
wine list also has a good selection of inexpensive and highly priced
bottles. We began our meals with the Crudo (raw sliced yellowtail)
and an Insalata Salad. The yellowtail, which was mixed with spicy
peppers, melted in my mouth. The salad was also excellent,
inventively mixing poached pears, gorgonzola, and toasted pignoli.
For our entrees, we opted for the Veal and a mix of the Maccheroncelli
and the Tortellini pastas. Again, both were superb. The veal
was prepared "thin" too perfection and served with a parmesan macaroni.
The highlight of the pasta dishes was the Kobe meatballs, which were
rich in flavor and texture. For dessert, we selected the Pear
Torta and the Warm Chocolate Budino. Kim loved the Torta, likened
it to a great apple pie; I thought that the chocolate cake was mediocre.
Although we really enjoyed our experience, it is of note that we have
received mixed reviews on the food, ranging from "outstanding" to "good, but not worth the excessive price". On that
note, expect one of the priciest bills in the city. Service was
impeccable, as our waiter was funny, attentive, and knowledgeable.
Probably the best service we have had all year. If you're looking for the hottest spot on the scene, Sorellina might
just be it - just make sure you book your reservations a few weeks in
advance.
